About St. Joseph’s Secondary School:
St. Joseph’s Secondary School is situated in the Nuba Mountains, a remote region of Sudan plagued by poverty and lack of resources. Despite the students’ determination and sacrifices to afford school fees, the school struggles with significant shortages.
- Student Population: 218 boys and 236 girls, the majority ranging in age from 14-18, but some students are in their twenties or thirties – such is the thirst for education to escape poverty.
- Teacher Qualifications: Only 3 out of 19 teachers have professional qualifications, highlighting the dire need for qualified educators.
- Basic Needs: Many students face food insecurity, impacting their ability to learn and thrive.
Our Goals:
Through this campaign, we aim to raise £8,000 to address the school’s critical needs:
- A photocopier for educational materials
- A laptop for administrative and educational use
- School fees for students in need
- Food items to ensure students are nourished and able to focus on their studies
